Hailing from Medellin, Colombia, Andrea Tierra blends Latin American rhythms with jazz and her poetry to create a one of a kind musical brew.

Her songs focus on the progressive, challenging injustices as they pertain to love, to life and to the Land as her own name says,("Tierra" means "Earth" in spanish).
With a rare contralto voice that pierces the heart, Andrea Tierra transcends the age gap with the intensity that only a musical leader can do. With her new project, a quartet including exotic instruments as the colombian harp and Tiple, Andrea builds a world of poetry walking through latin american rhythms as Cumbia, Bambuco and Joropo(Colombia), Zamba (Argentina), Lando (Peru) Bossa Nova and Samba (Brasil), Flamenco (Spain), mixed with the unique New York style.
Her first Cd “Melodía Verde” released 2008 is a hole trip around latin America with a New York sensibility.
In 2006 Andrea released her first Poetry Book called “Canto” (Singing), where she developed a new concept of poetry mixing her colombian roots with the US culture and her own experiences as inmigrant and New York resident.

Among the many stages where she performed, she had the opportunity to sing in the annual Colombian heritage festival held at the Madison Square Garden and was one of the audience’s favorite artists.

Andrea Tierra, has performed at The New Orleans Jazz Festival, The Bayside Festival of Miami, The Latino Festival of New York, Lowell Folk Festival, Jazz Festivals in Colombia, Uruguay, Panama, Italy, Spain, Germany, Amsterdam, Austria and world music re-known venues as Jazz Gallery, Zinc bar,Jazz at Lincon Center, Sweet Rhythm, Jazz Standard, Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, Blue Note, among others.

A performance art legacy-- having been a member of her father's traveling theater company since childhood-- ANDREA TIERRA delivers an intensity in music that could be described in words, but is much better experienced.

Andrea Tierra, cantante y compositora nacida en Medellín, Colombia, es el resultado de la mezcla inovadora entre la Música Popular Latinoamericana, el Jazz y la esencia de sus propios poemas que brotan como un río en todas sus presentaciones. Su voz contralto toca los corazones de la audiencia con la interpretación de sus canciones que son un reflejo de su desacuerdo ante la injusticia del mundo, del amor por la vida y por su "tierra" como su mismo nombre dice, dejando una ola de esperanza a sus espectadores.
Con su grupo, un quinteto que incluye instrumentos exóticos como El Arpa Colmbiana y El Tiple, Andrea construye un mundo de poesía paseando por los ritmos Latinoamericanos como La Cumbia, El Bambuco y El Joropo (Colombia); La Samba y La Chacarera (Argentina); El Bossa Nova (Brasil), fusionados con el estilo único Newyorquino.

Su primer CD "Melodía Verde" lanzado al mercado el el 2007, es un paseo por Latinoamerica con la sensibilidad de una Colombiana recidente en Nueva York.

Andrea Tierra ha llevado su voz a grandes escenarios y festivales como El Festival de Jazz de New Orleans, El Festival de Bayside en Miami, El Festival Latino de Nueva York,El Festival de Folklore de Lowell, El Festival Colombiano en el Madison Square Garden, Festivales de Jazz en Colombia, Uruguay, Panama, Italia, España, Alemania, Amsterdam, Austria y lugares reconocidos mundialmente como Jazz Gallery, Zinc bar,Jazz at Lincon Center, Sweet Rhythm, Jazz Standard, Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, Blue Note, entre otros.

Andrea comenzó su carrera haciendo parte del grupo de teatro de su padre "Mario Tierra" -trovador y poeta Antioqueño-, donde conoció a fondo su cultura Colombiana que hoy la hacen una artista original que rescata los valores y la cultura de su Tierra.
